Criminal Division

The Criminal Trial Division represents the people of Vanderburgh County and the State of Indiana in court and ensures that Indiana laws are upheld in all criminal prosecutions. The prosecutor’s office also conducts juvenile adjudications and prosecutes infractions of state law.

The criminal trial division is the most essential component of the Vanderburgh County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors, investigators, and litigation support staff work in determined coordination with each other to ensure the orderly pursuit of justice.

The Investigation Division works both independently and with other law enforcement agencies to gather supplementary information and evidence in criminal investigations. This unit is comprised of five investigators who have full police powers.

Like all law enforcement agencies, the Investigation Division receives cases through prescribed channels.

Whether working on a current criminal case or a cold/unresolved homicide, the Investigation Division appreciates any information the public can provide.
