Criminal Division

The primary role of the Criminal Trial Division is to represent the people of Vanderburgh County in court, ensuring that Indiana laws are upheld. This process begins with the reporting of a crime. The prosecutor’s office also conducts juvenile adjudications and prosecutions and prosecutes infractions of state law. As the lead law enforcement officer in Vanderburgh County, the Prosecuting Attorney also performs criminal investigations, convenes and supervises Grand Jury proceedings, enforces child support orders, and provides resources and assistance to victims of crime.

Holding offenders accountable and performing the tasks associated with prosecution in a professional and responsible manner requires that deputy prosecuting attorneys balance the relentless pursuit of justice tempered by the equally important application of mercy, when it is required. Whether responding to the scene of a crime or making the final argument to a jury, the Vanderburgh deputy prosecuting attorneys are committed to providing the level of service expected by the citizens of Vanderburgh County.
